Section 1Introduction

Paper Giants Publishing, LLC (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) develops and distributes Progress Desk (“the Software”), a local-first special education case management application. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our customers and, critically, the students whose information our customers manage using the Software.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect from purchasers of the Software, how we use that information, and how we safeguard the privacy of all parties involved. By purchasing, installing, or using Progress Desk, you (“User,” “you,” or “your”) agree to the practices described in this Policy.

Section 2Our Core Privacy Commitment

Progress Desk is built on a local-first architecture. This means that all educational data, including all student records, IEP documentation, case management notes, and related information, is created, stored, and processed locally on the User's own device.

Paper Giants Publishing, LLC does not collect, access, receive, transmit, store, or process any student data through the Software at any time.

Section 3Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum information necessary to process your purchase, provide you with the Software, and fulfill our legal and business obligations. This includes:

We do not collect any information beyond what is described above.

Section 4Information We Do Not Collect

To be clear and unambiguous:

Section 5How We Use the Information We Collect

The limited information we collect is used exclusively for the following purposes:

We do not use your information for advertising, marketing profiling, behavioral targeting, or any purpose unrelated to the direct provision of the Software and associated customer support.

Section 6Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, lease, trade, or otherwise provide your personal information to any third party for their own commercial, marketing, or advertising purposes. We have never sold customer information and will never sell customer information.

We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances, which represent standard and necessary business operations:

No other sharing, disclosure, or transfer of your personal information occurs.

Section 7Data Retention

We retain your purchase and license information for as long as your license is active and for a reasonable period thereafter to comply with our legal, accounting, and tax obligations. Customer support communications are retained for a reasonable period to ensure continuity of service. You may request deletion of your personal information at any time by contacting us, subject to our legal retention obligations.

Section 8Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the personal information we collect from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Section 9Children's Privacy

Progress Desk is designed for use by adult professionals, specifically, special education teachers, intervention specialists, and related service providers. The Software is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because all student data remains local to the User's device and is never transmitted to us, no student information, including information about minor children, is collected by Paper Giants Publishing, LLC through the Software.

Section 10FERPA, IDEA, and Educational Privacy Laws

Because Progress Desk operates on a local-first architecture and Paper Giants Publishing, LLC does not collect, access, or store any student data:

Users remain solely responsible for complying with FERPA, IDEA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and any applicable state student privacy laws in their use of the Software.

Section 11Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information provided below.

Section 12Third-Party Services

The Software may, at the User's discretion, integrate with third-party services or platforms. Any data shared with such third-party services is governed by the respective privacy policies of those services, not this Policy. Paper Giants Publishing, LLC is not responsible for the privacy practices of any third-party service.

Section 13Changes to This Privacy Policy

Paper Giants Publishing, LLC reserves the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time. We will notify Users of material changes by posting the revised Policy with an updated Effective Date. If changes are significant, we will make reasonable efforts to provide direct notice (such as email notification). Continued use of the Software following any such modification constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.

Section 14Governing Law

This Privacy Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
