Section 1Who you are buying from, and how this Policy fits

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

Paddle — not Paper Giants Publishing, LLC — is the legal seller of your Progress Desk license. Paddle charges your payment method, collects and remits any applicable tax, and issues refunds. Paper Giants Publishing, LLC (“we,” “us”) is the Supplier: we license Progress Desk to you and provide product support.

Your purchase is therefore governed by two documents:

How they interact. Paddle's Refund Policy provides that where a Supplier grants you additional rights, the highest level of rights always applies. Everything in this Policy is granted on top of Paddle's terms and your statutory rights — it takes nothing away. Where your local consumer protection law gives you stronger rights than either document, those rights govern. Nothing here limits your mandatory or non-waivable consumer rights.

Terms capitalized in this Policy — Transaction, Product, Supplier, Consumer, Business, Charges, Subscription — carry the meanings given in the Paddle Buyer Terms and Conditions.

Section 2Try before you buy

Progress Desk offers a 14-day free trial of the full application. No payment method is required to start the trial.

We encourage you to complete the trial before purchasing — including running it on the machine and operating system you intend to use, and confirming Progress Desk meets your district's technology and records requirements. Progress Desk runs entirely on your own device, so the trial is the real product, not a limited preview.

Section 3Our 30-day guarantee

If you purchased Progress Desk as an individual for your own use, you may request a full refund within 30 days of your purchase date, for any reason. You do not need to explain why.

This guarantee is our own commitment as Supplier. It is longer than the discretionary window Paddle applies on its own initiative, and it is broader than the statutory right described in Section 5: it applies whether or not you have downloaded, installed, or used Progress Desk, and whether or not you consented at checkout to immediate access.

You acknowledge this window before you download. At checkout, and again in your license delivery email, you are asked to confirm that you understand you have 30 days from the order completion date to cancel or request a refund.

What happens when a refund is issued:

  • Paddle returns the Charges to your original payment method, where possible using the same payment method, within 14 days of approval.
  • The amount you receive may differ slightly from the amount you paid, because taxes are recalculated at the time of refund and exchange rates may have moved.
  • Your Progress Desk license is deactivated. You must stop using the software and remove it from your devices. See Section 8 for what this means for your data.

Section 4How to request a refund

Within 1–14 days of your Transaction — use whichever route is easiest:

  • the “View receipt” or “Manage subscription” link in your Paddle order confirmation email;
  • visit paddle.net and select “Request refund”; or
  • email us at support@progressdesk.app with your order number.

Between 15 and 30 days of your Transactionplease email us at support@progressdesk.app with your order number.

This matters. Days 15–30 fall outside the window Paddle applies at its own discretion, so a self-serve request at paddle.net may be declined even though our guarantee covers you. Contact us instead and we will authorize the refund with Paddle on your behalf.

We will acknowledge refund requests within 2 business days and authorize eligible requests within 5 business days. Refunds we authorize are submitted to Paddle for processing and are subject to Paddle's review before funds are returned.

Missed the window? Contact us anyway at support@progressdesk.app. Section 6 has no time limit if something is actually wrong with the software, and Section 11 lets us grant refunds outside the window at our discretion. Please talk to us before disputing a charge with your bank — we can almost always resolve it faster.

Section 5Your statutory rights

Depending on where you purchased, you may have a legal right to withdraw from your Transaction that exists independently of Section 3. These rights are administered by Paddle:

Where you purchased Statutory withdrawal window
European Union / EEA / Switzerland / United Kingdom14 days
Turkey / Israel14 days
Canada7 days
Brazil / South Korea / China7 days
Singapore5 days

Digital content and waiver. In the EU, EEA, Switzerland, and the UK, the 14-day statutory withdrawal right does not apply to digital content you have started to download or use where you gave express consent to immediate access and acknowledged losing that right. You are asked to give that consent at checkout. Our 30-day guarantee in Section 3 applies regardless of whether you gave that consent, so you are never worse off for having installed Progress Desk.

Statutory withdrawal rights are exercised through Paddle at paddle.net.

Section 6If Progress Desk is faulty or not as described

Nothing in this Policy limits your rights regarding software that is faulty, not as described, or not fit for purpose. Those rights are not limited by the 30-day window in Section 3.

If you experience a persistent technical problem or a material defect that prevents Progress Desk from working as described:

  1. Contact us first at support@progressdesk.app. Paddle's Refund Policy directs you to the Supplier first, and it is the fastest path — most issues are resolvable, and we would rather fix your problem than lose you.
  2. If we cannot resolve it in a reasonable time, we will authorize a full refund regardless of how long ago you purchased.
  3. You may also contact Paddle at paddle.net with details of the issue and our response. Where there is evidence of a material defect, Paddle will issue a refund in accordance with applicable consumer protection law.

Section 7Complaints

If you are unhappy with Progress Desk, with this Policy, or with how we have handled a request, tell us at support@progressdesk.app.

  • We acknowledge every complaint within 2 business days.
  • We aim to resolve complaints within 10 business days, and will tell you if we need longer and why.
  • If we cannot resolve your complaint, we will say so in writing and explain your options.

If you are not satisfied with our resolution:

  • Payment, billing, or refund complaints: contact Paddle at paddle.net.
  • EU / EEA Consumers: you may refer the matter to an approved alternative dispute resolution body, or use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform.
  • UK Consumers: you may refer the matter to an approved ADR provider.
  • United States: you may contact your state consumer protection office or attorney general.

This does not affect your right to pursue any legal remedy available to you.

Section 8What a refund means for your data

Progress Desk is local-first software. Your student records live in an encrypted database on your own device. They are not on our servers, because we do not have servers.

A refund does not touch your data. Deactivating your license does not delete, transmit, upload, or give Paper Giants Publishing, LLC access to any student information stored on your device. We had no access before your refund and we gain none after it.

You remain responsible for the records on your device. Your school or district remains the educational agency responsible for those records under FERPA and applicable state law. Retain, transfer, or destroy them according to your district's records policy.

Export grace period. Data export remains available for 14 days after license deactivation so you can move your records out of Progress Desk before losing access to the application. We recommend exporting before you request a refund.

Section 9School, district, and institutional purchases

This Policy governs purchases made by individuals for their own use.

Purchases by schools, districts, educational agencies, universities, or other organizations — including any purchase made by purchase order, invoice, quote, or site license — are Business Transactions and are governed by the applicable order form, quote, or license agreement rather than this Policy. The Consumer withdrawal rights in Section 5 do not apply to Business Transactions.

Tax. A Business charged sales tax, VAT, GST, or a similar consumption tax may be entitled to a refund of that tax amount if it is registered for the tax in the country of purchase. Such requests go to Paddle, must be made within 60 days of the Transaction date, and require a valid tax code or tax-exemption certificate.

Before you buy: contact support@progressdesk.app to arrange a named pilot. We would rather you evaluate Progress Desk properly than buy it and regret it.

Section 10Limits and abuse

We may decline a refund request, and Paddle may decline independently, where there is evidence of fraud, refund abuse, or other manipulative behavior — including:

  • repeated purchase-and-refund cycling of the same or substantially similar licenses;
  • more than two refunded purchases associated with the same person, payment method, or email address;
  • license key sharing, resale, or circumvention of licensing restrictions;
  • a chargeback or payment dispute opened without first contacting us or Paddle.

Chargebacks. If you initiate a chargeback or payment reversal, access to Progress Desk may be suspended while the matter is reviewed. This does not affect your lawful right to dispute a charge under card-scheme or consumer-protection rules — we simply ask that you talk to us or Paddle first, because we can usually resolve it faster than your bank can.

Section 11Discretionary refunds

Refunds granted outside the windows described in this Policy are discretionary, decided case by case, and do not create an obligation to grant similar requests in future. We may approve a refund in full, approve a partial refund, or decline the request. Paddle may separately exercise its own discretion under its Refund Policy.

If you think you have a fair reason and you have missed the window, ask. We would rather hear from you than from your bank.

Section 12Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy. The version in effect on the date of your Transaction governs that Transaction, so we recommend saving or printing a copy for your records. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date before they take effect.
